The ski lodge located in the heart of Whistler
It is generally a very convenient place, ideal for young people and solo travelers. The host communicates all the check-in details clearly via email. The parking lot is underground, with easy access, and having a dedicated parking spot in Whistler is quite nice. The biggest highlight is its location, situated right in the center of the village, with Olympic Plaza visible from the window. Patagonia is downstairs, making it easy to shop and explore anywhere. The only downside is that the second elevator leading to the basement was broken and wasn’t repaired by the time we checked out, so we had to carry our luggage a bit farther.

Good location, nice room
I was in Whistler for a week mountain biking. Selected this property because of price.
Check in and departure were easy, room was as expected.
One gripe I had: one of the 2 elevators was out of service the whole time I was there, which made getting from the room to the parking garage a pain, since there's no way to take stairs into the garage, I had to walk to the far end of the building, then all the way across the parking lot - not wanting to bring a dirty bike upstairs, I locked it up in the garage.
Would have been a 5-star stay (for the price) if the elevator across from the room worked!

A convinient stay in Whistler
I stayed recently in the Marketplace Lodge and I remaint satisfied with the location and practicality of this place.
Walking 10 minute to the gondolas in the morning was even helpfull to warm up the muscles before hitting the slopes.
If you need some grocery shopping, it is just underneath your room. Not to mention the restorants and intertainment are all around the place.
Yes, the place is old but well maintained. Therefore I would remend the Marketplace lodge if you are willing to pay a reasonable price for your Whisler lodging.

Great location
Close to the slopes (walk straight from building) but slightly away from the busiest areas so quiet at night. Room was very clean - small but manageable with the balcony outside for storing the board etc. My only small suggestion was to be a little clearer on how to get in and out of the block in first instance as it was hard to get to second floor to access room without a key fob but everything else was professional.

Nice little room right in the Village
Elevator/check in process felt complicated but perhaps I didn’t read my emails well enough. Nice little room right in the Marketplace area so everything we wanted to do for at least a day or two was a nice easy walk from the room. This would be an excellent place to stay during a ski trip. So convenient to get to the hills! We went in September and it was still great! Make sure to book a hot tub spot, glad we did!

Good location but small place
It was a bit surprising and disappointing to me when first walked into this room. When I booked it online I did not expect it to be so compact.
The quality of the mattress is not good either. It really took a long ski day for me to finally fell asleep on it.
The only thing I think it's great about this place is its location. It is close to the bus station, the supermarket, and the restaurants. I enjoyed just walking to whatever I needed without driving a car.
Overall I expect a little more for the money I paid for the stay. Next time I will probably find a higher priced place to stay.

Under Construction, Outdated, Cramped
While the location couldn't be beat, the actual facility was a wreck. There was no mention of construction. Every hallway was being torn apart, there was no carpet, electrical outlets were hanging out of the walls, and dust covered everything. The room itself was tiny, the bed taking up the whole space. There was also a small table which isn't shown in the picture that blocked the entrance outside. The sheets were nearly threadbare, the furniture stained, the coffee space oddly shoved in the shelving. We couldn't get the TV to work, despite calling the front desk for help. On the good side: free parking, sunny patio perfect for people watching, and (again) awesome location with all amenities nearby. The hot tub was enjoyable, although also dirty and run down.

Room 2h5 could use some attention, like minor renovation and update. We stayed 7 days and no one clean attemp to clean the room. There were no cleaning material, so we couldnot do it ourself.

Location is great, we stayed in other units before and it was great, but 2h5 is not a place that i will rent again.

Thank-you for your feedback. As noted in the description and policies, this is a very basic hotel room that does not include any housekeeping or cleaning services. An offer to upgrade to a larger condo with a kitchen was not taken up by the guest.

Very nice holidays in spite of Whistler Retreats
The Check in was terrible. I got the Email with the Check in instructions after leaving my home. Because the office was closed (it was very difficult to find the office, because I had no adress), I called Whistler Retreats after my arrival in Whistler by phone.Than we arranged a meeting point before the Whistler Retreats office, but nobody came. So I called W. R. the 2nd time and I got the missing instruction by phone. The procedure was very comlicated. Due the long waiting time I exceed the free park duratio of 1 hour and got a parking ticket with a fine of 55 CAD. Please repay me this fine. Overall it was a bad performance of Whistler Retreats. The apparte has 1 table with a fridge on the top and only 2 chairs on the balkony.
Anonymous from Weyhe - Posted: 4/11/2019
One of the most important policies guests agree to during the booking process is the requirement to e-sign the online check-in contract PRIOR to receiving their arrival instructions. This is because - as we clearly state in our listings - there is NO in-person check in. The online check-in contract was sent to the guest 8 days prior to arrival but was never actually signed, despite repeated reminders. Check-in instructions are only sent once the contract is signed since this registers the guest's check-in. The check-in would have been much simpler if the guest had simply followed the instructions we sent.

The room was clean, well maintained and generally adequate. However it was quite small for an extended stay (I was there for a week) and did not have a chair. It is at one end of the Village Stroll so everything is within a short to moderate walk. Except when carrying skis - it is the far end from the lifts. Want to say more but no more space.

Total Rip OFF, would not refund stay for major medical emergency

“Total Rip OFF, would not refund stay for major medical emergency.”

I had a medical emergency of a lifetime This happened on July 31st at Midnight two days before I was supposed to check in. My yoga teacher who was also in Whistler at the Wanderlust Yoga Festival told them in person about my medical situation. I could not come to check in because I was 6.5 days in the ICU at Vancouver General Hospital. They had absolutely no sympathy for me and would not cancel my reservation. They probably even rented my room out to somebody else. These people are cuthroat unfeeling greedy beasts. There only response to me as I lay in the ICU was I should have had travel insurance. DO NOT EVER HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM AGAIN.

Marketplace area is good for the budget conscious. Buildings here being reno'ed 1 by 1 and most need it. Ups: nice staff very helpful, easy late check-in for a condo bldg, free parking needed late season, good bed. Downs: Tiny room (don't see how a couple would fit in here, even the huge closet has only 4 hangars!), NOISY KIDS PARTYING in unit 251 and spilling into the hall outside woke me up over and over.

Enjoyed the studio and location. Market an liquor store near by. The phone in and get a code to get in the building was awkward as I've never seen or heard of it. Eventually it all worked out. Also I couldn't leave the keyless fob in my room and get into the underground parking lot..they said I needed to go get my car out and come back upstairs..then save the fob. Didnt like that.. however the free parking and clean room and great price made up for it all. Four stars

"Budget" accommodations
That's the word Whistler Retreats used when I contacted them about the reviews that stated the heat wasn't working during another traveler's stay. It was, I imagine, like staying at a 2 star hotel. We had a place to sleep for $250 a night. That's about it.
The furnishings were modest. The door to the balcony would not open without force so we did not use it. The bathroom had not been cleaned. Finding pubic hair in the shower was almost as saddening as finding the blood on the sink. A frothy white film covered the water in the hot tub and the fumes irritated my eyes and nose.

Disappointing
I was told this room was basic, and that's fine. But for the huge price, I would have thought a linen change would be possible X1 in 3 days. Coffee was not replenished after I used the one packet on Day 1. Guest services are only possible for 1.5 hrs/day. Parking spots are tiny and essentially inaccessible for a small truck.
Anonymous from Gabriola - Posted: 2/25/2016
Thank-you for your comments. Please note that we do clearly state that no housekeeping is provided during the stay, and nightly pricing is seasonal (this particular stay was over a sold-out weekend during winter high season). Guest services at our Whistler office are available daily between 9am and 5.30pm, and we offer a 24hr phone line for after hours assistance.

Good value
This is great value. Excellent cable TV and WiFi.
This is a small room so for one person was adequate.
Could be a problem with two people and ski gear.
Only improvement would be some kind of stool to sit on when removing ski boots. I had to sit on the edge of the bath

Good quality lodging in a great location
My room was clean, secure, included free parking, and had all the necessary appliances for a multi day stay (fridge, coffee maker, dishes, cutlery). There was a hot tube in the building but I did not use it. The room itself looked out onto the Medals Pavillion, and it was a treat to look at all the Christmas light displays at night in the plaza from the room. The Village Gondola is close by, less than ten minutes walk. This lodging had everything I wanted to make my stay enjoyable.

All around wonderful
Don't let the maps fool you! This rental is centrally located in the village and you can walk through it leisurely to get to the upper village (Blackcomb) in under ten minutes. The price was very fair, the amenities nearby were plentiful (food, booze and coffee almost all right below you) and free parking! Exceptional service to book and help with arriving. It's not ritzy but it is practical.

Stayed for a few nights over the Pemberton music festival. Room was clean and had everything you need except A/C. However there was a fan available for the warmer nights. Weekend away
The room met our needs for the weekend, the only factors that were disappointing was the noise that we could hear from neighbouring units or people in the hallways... A 130 am wake up call was not my idea of a weekend away to relax. The room was rather hot in the evening as there was no air conditioning. The check in staff was super friendly and the room was convinently located by a grocery store and starbucks!

Great economy stay!
Good no frills room. Worked great for my son and I on our 3 day trip. Location was a nice 10 minute walk from the lifts but the grocery store was 3 minutes away, coffee was just downstairs, dessert was about 2 minutes away, several nice restaurants were within 5 minutes or less. So basically great centralized location. Recommend this place if you're on a budget or just need a nice place to put your stuff and sleep.

nice and central acommodation
The stay at Marketplace Lodge was very nice. The location is located very central, all you need is within walking distance.
What I disliked is that the check-in is on Blackcomb and they do not have a shuttel to get back from Le Chamois to the actual rental location. Plus I missed a chair or stool in the room for putting clothes on it in the evening or so. That is why I only gave 3 stars on the management and general condition.
But all together I would recommend the lodge.

Nice arrangements at a bargain price
Nice location overall - highly accessible to the Whistler promenade, and not a far walk for the lifts. Checking in at a separate location took some getting used to, giving the Marketplace a somewhat remote feel; I don't know that I encountered or talked to any staff (including housekeeping) at the Marketplace itself. (To me, that underscores its budget aspect; but that's a minor quibble.) With a summer discount, I got a US $85/night deal after counting all fees, so for vacationers looking for a great bargain with good amenities, Marketplace is the way to go.

Noisier than Playa del Carmen in Mexico
I think you should advertise that the room is next to a playground. It is SO loud, between that and the theatre - the orchestra -it is the least peaceful retreat in a paid room that Ive ever experienced. I felt like I was staying inside a mall. It was hot, so the door had to be open to get air in and it was loud from 7am until 10 or later at night.
As a suggestion, it would be nice if the fridge wasnt on the floor at a level where you must be on hands and knees, splurge and buy the next size up. The one bowl wasnt really helpful either. If youre going to have a kitchenette it might be an idea to add a chair or a flip up table or even 2 tv trays, there is no where to put anything yet there is tremendous storage in the closet to store such items. Its eating on the floor, or in bed.
Also, curtains would have been nice, something that blocks people from seeing in but lets the light in. We had the blinds up to knee height and closed for privacy. Lets face it, its a small corner closet of a room that can become claustrophobic easily.
A garbage can in the main room would be helpful.
The extra half hour given to us for check out was an insult.
We appreciated the wifi immensely. The location was good minus the consistent obnoxious noise of children screaming and an orchestra playing. The bed was comfortable.
I am disappointed because I stayed in another suite in this building on the other side in summer and it was a complete opposite experience so it will be hard to recommend this to others, except to warn to find out where the room is located.

Lovely stay
Room was comfortable, had a fridge and tv and good wifi, cups and coffee maker etc. Handy location on the marketplace. Not much of a view from the balcony but we didn't even expect there to be a balcony. Handy having the parking garage downstairs. Had a great stay here and would definitely stay here again.

the bed and the room was okay but no air conditioning will be **** when it is hot and it is very loud if you have kids great if not you feel like youre trapped at chucky cheese in the morning with the playhround right there and the hot tub is about a two block walk from the sweet but overall was worth what i paid lots of pillows was awsome and was in good location just bring ear plugs for at night and the morning
